Ho'oponopono for Couples
In Hawaii, both in the old time and today, we use the practice of Ho’oponopono to heal conflicts and relationship issues to set things right. When there has been hala—fault, wrong, offense, transgression, error - a basic truth of human relationships is the “wrong-doer” and the “wronged” are linked together by the very existence of the transgression and its chain of after-effects. Like a cord it binds the offender to their deed and their recipient. The recipient holds onto this cord and becomes equally bound.
This cord has many other entanglements that bind the parties involved together. Anger, the wish for revenge, the time-strengthened knots of old grudges, the newly-tied knots of guilt for the deed, the fear of discovery, the dread of confrontation—all these are part of the cord that binds and constricts. There are lesser entanglements as well, such as social embarrassment and the inability to communicate. These, too, join people together in a mutually distressing relationship. As others are inevitably drawn into the conflict, the cord of hala - trouble - is like a network of ever-spreading unpleasantness.
But it can be healed and changed. In Ho’oponopono for Couples, we seek to find resolution to the problems and issues. Broken people trying to have a relationship with broken people isn’t going to result in a happy, healthy relationship. Each person attends their own private Ho’oponopono Session before attending a session where both are present.
